travelling through eireland i meet with a harpist and we exchange tunes later i made this poem about an elven harpist |
|
the irish harp
the harp belongs in dublin town
and as half a heart is round
strung in exponential curves
for pure and natural sound
plucked by elven fingers
sweet tones ring out in song
on o'donovan street
where elven feet
all lightly skip along
i wake from dreaming slumber
in faerie fountain park
to see the darling dancing
of children to the harp
the player sits beside the gate
her eyes a soft sapphire
dear elven child
so fair and wild
you charm the towns of eire
